Things to Consider:
- The weather is usually colder and windier by the bay. Appropriate clothing is necessary.
- Students will be outside continuously for two days, regardless of the weather conditions. (Except during thunderstorms and National Weather Service storm warnings.)
- Environmental activities are, by design, very messy. Old clothes and shoes are best.
- Ticks and chiggers may be abundant — repellant helps but your best defense against tick borne disease is a thorough check for, and removal of ticks as soon as your child returns. Students are encouraged to check for ticks throughout their stay.
- Please discourage your child from bringing electronics and toys/games.
The Rules:
Expectations of Parent Chaperons: While the overnight program is designed to empower students and encourage their sense of responsibility for the trip, parents who participate play in integral role. Primarily, the chaperons help to keep the children safe at all times. Parents also assist with lessons, putting up tents, accompanying students during their free time, and keeping track of supplies. We endeavor during these two days to put the children in the lead with our (the adults) role being one of support. The Meals: (If your child has allergies or special dietary requirements please be sure to tell your classroom teacher or contact us directly. We will happily accommodate your needs.) Dinner:
